arold Jeffery, a longtime member of the LBMAO, passed away
HDecember 25th, 2018 at the age of 88.
As a young boy, Harold began helping his father build homes and
cottages in the Goderich area. In 1947, he joined his father, John, in
founding what was then called John Jeffery and Son Planing Mill and
Builders Supply at 163 Elgin Avenue.
After its opening, the business continued to build homes,
manufacture sash, doors, kitchen cupboards, moulding and other
custom made items but soon expanding retail demands required full
time attention. At this time, the business became John Jeffery and
Son Lumber & Building Supplies. This was the banner he continued
to work under until the ‘last post’.
